EMDR Highly Sensitive Person Sussex
EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a therapeutic approach that can help people process distressing experiences, difficult memories and emotions that continue to affect them in the present.
As a highly sensitive person (HSP), you may experience emotions deeply, feel overwhelmed by sensory or emotional experiences, or find that past events stay with you for a long time.
EMDR offers a supportive, structured way of working with these experiences, at a pace that feels manageable for you. We work collaboratively, with your needs, boundaries and sense of safety at the heart of the process.
Who can benefit from EMDR?
EMDR may be helpful if you:
You do not need to have experienced a single major traumatic event to explore whether EMDR might be helpful. We can discuss your individual circumstances together and consider whether this approach feels right for you.
HSP Sussex EMDR focuses on the following areas
My approach recognises that highly sensitive people may experience the world with particular emotional depth and intensity. Therapy is tailored to you as an individual, rather than assuming that every highly sensitive person has the same needs.
Areas we may explore include:
We begin by getting to know you and understanding what you would like to work towards. Preparation, emotional resources and stabilisation are important parts of the process, and any trauma processing is undertaken collaboratively and at a pace appropriate for you.
